World Linchpin Day

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

I have referenced Seth Godin a couple times in previous posts. He is a very clever guy. He has moved that the 14th of June be World Linchpin Day, a date for linchpins to meet up independently and talk.

You can find an event in your area here. I will be hosting an event for Brisbane linchpins here.

It will be light, inspiring and commercial free.

Hope to see you there.

“Thank God it’s Friday”

Friday, May 21st, 2010

So you hate your job?

Something about that phrase suggests failure, or perhaps just survival. Sounds like you are grateful that you made it, like you didn’t expect to.

Maybe instead of Thank God it’s Friday you should just say or think nothing. Don’t even acknowledge the end of the week. You have been productive and your output was excellent. It’s what you do. And come Monday you’ll reflect on a nice weekend and continue to churn out results.

Maybe instead of saying, “Thank God it’s Friday”, you could start saying, “Thank you, I have been outstanding”.

Are you worthless?

I don’t know who heads up the marketing teams at Google, Apple, CCA or Virgin, but they would all have something in common. They would be people that other people would be happy to work with. Maybe not the nicest, most pleasant people on Earth, but nice enough.

You might be skilled up to the eye balls, but brother, if people can’t work with you, you ain’t worth jack.
