The price of cheaper

My partner and I stayed over night at a four star hotel a couple of nights ago. Our package included breakfast at the award winning restaurant down the street. I asked the receptionist why they outsourced their dining facilities and she said it saved them a few dollars in labour, organisation, power etc. Fair enough.

At breakfast the next morning, the waiting staff were nice enough to us until they established we were with the hotel and were getting the ‘free’ breakfast. The meal was two star, the service was half a star less.

There weren’t any other restaurants in the area.

By outsourcing dining, the hotel had saved itself a few dollars (but cost itself a star).

The cheaper option isn’t always the least expensive.
